Windows media center. use your computer as a DVR

Windows media center is the newest way to access your media in an organized way from any part of your home. You can use your computer as a DVR and you can record HD TV shows live and you can even pause, rewind, and fast forward through commercials. You can even stream media to a windows media extender over a network, such as an xbox 360 or even an original xbox (with the right adapter). They even have stand alone media center extenders as well as media center extenders built into new LG HDTV systems. right now, you can't stream DVD media over a network, but we are hoping to see support for it in the future especially with the new HD DVD/Blu-ray combo drives that are popping up in pcs from HP and Gateway and are being sold by LG for after market installations. All you need to get started on media center is a pc with Windows XP media center edition, or Windows vista home premium or higher. To receive TV signal, a TV tuner card is required and to receive HDTV signal from unencrypted digital cable, a QAM tuner is required. Windows media center is easy to use and is secure, only allowing the extenders you want to read your media off of your computer. This is a great feature if you have kids/parents that you don't want seeing your saved HBO late night content or the interesting videos you made with your significant other or anything you want to keep private, for that matter.
