HD DVD and Blu ray importing get Movies on the format you love earlier

Were you really looking forward to getting XXX on HD DVD? How about Crank? May be Fantastic four or Mr. And Mrs smith you were looking for on HD DVD. Unfortunatly due to the Blu Ray and HD DVD format war, all of these movies that were just mentioned will not be coming to HD DVD anytime soon... in the United States that is. One of the best advantages to the new high definition formats is the much looser region codings on discs. Blu ray discs only have 2 regions to begin with (japan/us and Europe) and there is quite a few discs that are region free to begin with. Even better is HD DVD, which is 100 percent region free, as the specs dictate. This means that people in the United States can pay just a few dollars more to have many more movies on their format of choice by importing their favorites from Europe or Japan. Europeans enjoy having their players region free because that means that they can import titles from the United States before they are released on high definition disc before they are available in their home country. The U.S. Gets the crappy end on some movies too, for instance. Mr Bean's Holiday was released on HD DVD in the UK and France before it even hit theaters in America. Thanks to the new high definition formats, we can now get the movies we love when we want them... earlier.
