Comcast cutting your monthly bill, and increasing your services, just for asking I was able to save money on Comcast's HD cable which I already had and get Comcast high speed cable Internet access at no charge, just for asking.
Do you have Verizon Fios in your area? If so, you should be able to save money on your current cable bill and get a lot of upgrades on top of it.
Someone told me that they were going to switch to Verizon Fios and called Comcast to cancel and they cut their rate dramatically.
So I decided to call just to see if I could get a better deal since Fios has been available at my curb for about three years now.
I did not suggest that I would leave but that I wanted to add the high speed cable internet access and could they give me a better deal.
I already had the HD cable package with all the premium channels and I also had DSL.
So what kind of deal did I get? They cut my monthly bill by $40 a month and gave me the high speed internet access for free (I.E. Included in the new low price as a package).
I believe they said the internet access would be 12 Mb/s down and would boost to 18 Mb/s. I tested it at SpeedTest.net and was getting around 17 Mb/s down and about 2 Mb/s up. Can't beat the price.
One thing they would not do is give me a Dell Netbook (that they have been advertising on TV), even if I took the triple play package. They told me they would only give that to a new customer, despite the fact that the package I currently have, even at the new reduced price is more than their basic triple play package of $99 month which qualifies for the Dell Netbook. It was worth a try.
If you get a great deal on your cable please let us know so we can update this article with some of the deals our readers are getting in their areas.
The deals may vary widely depending on where you are and how much of a market share Verizon Fios has in that area, or how much they are spending on trying to grab customers away from Comcast.
Also, If you are with another cable company such as Cox and have Fios in your area, let us know if they are giving you a better deal to remain a customer.
With the economy down and Verizon Fios investing heavily in the infrastructure to lay fiber and marketing cost to gain new customers, I suspect that other cable companies will also be offering deals.
It does not hurt to call and see what kind of deal your cable company will give you.
